Eurovision email

This is a suggested letter or email that you can send to a venue that is screening the Eurovision Song Contest:

I am writing with regard to your Eurovision events and to ask you to show support for the Palestinian people.

The state of Israel does not belong in Eurovision. It has been waging a genocidal war against Gaza for nearly seven months. It has murdered more than 34,000 people, including 14.500 children. Israel has targeted hospitals, health workers and journalists. It has blocked supplies of  basic food and water, leading to widespread famine. It has destroyed infrastructure that will take many years to repair. 1.5million Palestinians are living in makeshift tents and shelters in Rafah, where Israel prepares for a ground invasion which will undoubtedly be catastrophic. A system of apartheid is also maintained on the West Bank,

Israel routinely uses sporting and cultural events as a form of propaganda and to give the impression that it is just like any state. But there is no normality in a state that is based on occupation and apartheid or that can commit such atrocities as we are seeing. Palestinians have rightly called for Israel to be excluded from Eurovision or, failing that, for a boycott of the event. If it was right to exclude Russia following the invasion of Ukraine, it is surely right to do the same to Israel.

If your venue remains committed to showing the contest, I ask at least that you pause the streaming during the Israeli entry on 9th May and (if it gets through) the final on 11th May.

To date we know of the following venues are showing the semi-finals and the final of Eurovision:

Baltic Market – HELLO@BALTICMARKET.CO.UK

Camp and Furnace – https://campandfurnace.com/contact/

The following are only showing the final on 11 May:
The ACC conference centre – customerservice@accliverpool.com
