DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 21 JULY

We held another march from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square, hearing updates on recent events in Palestine and the recent judgment of the \international Court of Justice.

LIVERPOOL ARAB ARTS FESTIVAL – 21 JULY

We had a stall at the Family Day that closed a week-long festival of Arab Arts, including several events relevant to Palestine

BIG RIDE FOR PALESTINE – 20 JULY

Over 120 cyclists took part in the ‘Liverpool leg’ of this year’s Big Ride for Palestine, covering 25 miles around the city and ending with an evening concert.

DEMONSTRATIONS FOR GAZA – 7 AND 14 JULY

We held further marches from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square, hearing speakers on the environmental impact of Israel’s war on Gaza (akin to the Vietnam war) and Israel’s gradual annexation of the West Bank.

LIVERPOOL STUDENT RALLY – 7 JULY

We supported a rally held by the students at the Liverpool encampment, highlighting Liverpool University’s involvement with the arms trade.

NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION – 6 JULY

We formed a ‘Scousers for Palestine’ bloc at the PSC’s national demonstration in London, showing that Palestine remains a key issue for Britain’s new government to deal with.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 30 JUNE

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral (via the student encampment in Al-Areer, aka Abercromby, Square) to Derby Square. The demonstration was enlivened by the appearance of the ‘Jenin Horse’ which is currently on tour of Palestine solidarity events.

We supported a fundraising evening at the Casa club that raised money for Medical Aid for Palestinians

RACISM IN ISRAELI EDUCATION – PUBLIC MEETING 28 JUNE

We held a public meeting to welcome Professor Nourit Peled, an Israeli academic, to speak on racism in Israeli education.

PENSIONS MEETING – 24 JUNE

We held a public meeting to promote the campaign to disinvest local authority pension funds from firms involved in the arms trade and support for Israeli apartheid.

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral (via the student encampment in Al-Areer, aka Abercromby, Square) to Derby Square. 

PALESTINE OYE – 22 JUNE

We held a street stall and leafleting session outside Liverpool’s famous Africa Oye music festival.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 16 JUNE

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral (via the student encampment) to Derby Square. The march coincided with Eid and also the anniversary of the Soweto shooting of 1976.

MERSEYSIDE PALESTINE ASSEMBLY MEETING – 13 JUNE

We jointly sponsored a meeting of the Merseyside Palestine Assembly that discussed plans for future solidarity work.

We formed a sizeable ‘Liverpool bloc’ at the national demonstration in London called by Palestine Solidarity Campaign and others.

GAZA NIGHTS 2 – 7 JUNE

We supported a cultural evening of words and music at the Unity Theatre, compered by the comedian Ivor Dembina.

EMERGENCY RALLY FOR RAFAH – 27 MAY

We held an emergency rally to protest Israel’s latest attack on civilians in Rafah, which was followed by a march through the city to the student encampment.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 26 MAY

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral (via the student encampment in Al-Areer, aka Abercromby, Square) to Derby Square.

INTERVENTIONS IN WARTIME – 23 MAY

We welcomed back Muhammad Tamimi of the Hebron International Resource Network, who updated us on increasing settler violence and land-grabbing in the Masafer Yatta area South of Hebron.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 19 MAY

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral (via the student encampment in Al-Areer, formerly Abercromby, Square) to Derby Square, where our principal speaker was Dr Mona El-Farra. We also briefly welcomed a long-distance walker as he completed a walk from Wolverhampton’s Molineux to Anfield to mark the last game of the football season.

We formed a sizeable ‘Liverpool bloc’ at the national demonstration in London called by Palestine Solidarity Campaign and others.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 12 MAY

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral (via the student encampment in Al-Areer, formerly Abercrombie, Square) to Derby Square, where speakers marked 76 years since the Palestine Nakba and a surgeon reported on working in Gaza.

STOP THE WAR RALLY – 11 MAY

We sponsored a ‘regional rally’ held in Liverpool by the Stop the War campaign.

LITTLE WALKERS – 11 MAY

We assisted a charity walk for children that raised substantial sums for Medical Aid for Palestinians.

EUROVISION – 11 MAY

We demonstrated outside one of the Liverpool venues showing the Eurovision Song Contest and leafleted those attending.

PENSIONS MEETING – 9 MAY

We held an open meeting to discuss the campaign to disinvest local authority pension funds from companies that are complicit in Israeli apartheid.

RAFAH EMERGENCY RALLY – 7 MAY

We held an emergency rally at Lime Street station as Israeli tanks rolled into Rafah. At the conclusion demonstrators occupied the street for half an hour

MAY DAY RALLY – 6 MAY

We joined a workplace day of action in the University area as part of a national celebration of May Day and a call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 28 APRIL

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square, where speakers highlighted the mass graves recently found next to Gaza hospitals and the upsurge in student solidarity action in American universities.

NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION – 27 APRIL

We again attended in numbers at the national demonstration organised by Palestine Solidarity Campaign and others.

DEMONSTRATIONS FOR GAZA – 14 AND 21 APRIL

We held further marches from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square On the 14th our lead speaker was Chief Executive Officer of Healthworkers for Palestine.

GRAND NATIONAL – 13 APRIL

We displayed banners and flags outside Aintree racecourse on the day of the Grand National and attracted support from racegoers. 

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 7 APRIL

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square, where speakers addressed yet another attack on relief workers and spoke of trade union solidarity.

HOLY SATURDAY VIGIL – 30 MARCH

A four-hour vigil for the children of Gaza in a South Liverpool church was followed by a talk given by former EAPPI volunteer Sue King.

On the day of a national demonstration in London, we held a static rally outside Lime Street station

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square, where the rally heard about the recent attacks on Gaza hospitals.

MARCH TO TELEDYNE – 23 MARCH

We joined a march on the Wirral to highlight the presence of the Teledyne factory which makes drones used in the oppression of Palestinians. 

CEASEFIRE QUIZ NITE – 22 MARCH

We held a well-attended quiz nite as a fundraiser and a reminder that knowledge about Palestine is part of general knowledge. See the Quiz page on this website for examples!

PENSIONS COMMITTEE DEMONSTRATION – 19 MARCH

We held a rally with the Wirral TUC outside the meeting of the Merseyside Local Government Pension Fund at Birkenhead town Hall, calling on the Fund to withdraw its investments from arms firms that fuel the oppression of Palestinians

WIRRAL COUNCIL MEETING – 18 MARCH

We supported a rally outside Birkenhead Town Hall, where Wirral Borough Council were set to debate a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 17 MARCH

We held a further march from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square and were well received by St Patricks Day revellers.

CHILDRENS VIGIL – 16 MARCH

One of our members initiated a four-hour vigil in the Childrens Chapel of the Anglican Cathedral in memory of the children killed in Gaza.

QUESTION TIME – 14 MARCH

Some of our members picketed the episode of BBC Question Time held in Liverpool, where even a handpicked audience were sceptical of the pro-Israeli views expressed.

DEMONSTRATIONS FOR GAZA – 3 AND 10 MARCH

We held further marches from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square, calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the genocide in Gaza and justice for the Palestinians.

GAZA CABARET – 1 MARCH

We held an evening of word and music at the Casa, with a wide range of local artists. The event was a fundraiser for Amplify Gaza Stories emergency food projects.

Further marches from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square. Speakers on the intensifying medical crisis in Gaza, national and local boycotts and the failure of the British Parliament to debate the issues properly.

TOWN HALL DEMONSTRATION – 14 FEBRUARY

We called a middle-of-the-day demonstration outside Liverpool Town Hall in protest at the imminent invasion of Rafah, followed by a march through the city.

Further marches from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square. Speakers updated on the International Court of Justice, the cutting of funds from several countries to UNRWA and thee growing threat to the Palestinian population trapped in Rafah..

LONDON DEMONSTRATION – 13 JANUARY

We took part in the massive demonstration in London in support of the people of Gaza.

We held further marches from the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square. Speakers highlighted the case coming before the International Court of Justice where Israel is accused of genocide.

2023

VIGIL FOR GAZA – 23 DECEMBER

We held a one-hour vigil for Gaza at the top of Church Street. After that we placed a ‘Bethlehem is closed’ artwork in front of the Anglican Cathedral crib.

CAROLS FOR PALESTINE – 19 DECEMBER

We sang carols for Palestine in Clayton Square and collected money in support of our solidarity with the people of Bilin on the West Bank.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 17 DECEMBER

We held another march from the Catholic Cathedral to a rally with speakers at Derby Square.

FIVE BROKEN CAMERAS – 13 DECEMBER

We supported Scousers for Palestine in their screening of Five Broken Cameras, a film about resistance in Bilin (see the entry in our Films page).

MERSEYSIDE PENSIONS COMMITTEE – 11 DECEMBER

We lobbied the meeting of the Merseyside Local Government Pensions Committee at Birkenhead Town Hall, supporting a motion to disinvest pension funds from the arms industry that fuels Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians.

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY MARCH – 10 DECEMBER

We marked the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a rally (addressed by Len McCluskey and Jeremy Corbyn) followed by a march to Derby Square, where speakers included a representative of Amnesty International.

BENEFIT FOR MAP – 7 DECEMBER

We supported a benefit hosted by Kit It Out to support Medical Aid for Palestinians.

BARCLAYS BANK PROTEST – 2 DECEMBER

We held a rally on Lord Street outside Barclays Bank. Barclays is a major supporter of Israeli apartheid. 

UNITED NATIONS DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE – 29 NOVEMBER

We held a one-hour vigil in the late afternoon on the open space in front of Lime Street station.

We then joined a silent procession (organised by Arts for Peace) from the top of Bold Street to hear performances of poetry and spoken word at Derby Square.

DEMONSTRATION FOR GAZA – 26 NOVEMBER

We held another march to a rally at Derby Square, where speakers included the Scottish civil rights lawyer Aamer Anwar.

LOBBY OF COUNCIL MEETING – 22 NOVEMBER

We held a rally outside the Liverpool Town Hall and celebrated the passing of a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution, proposed by opposition councillors, would not have passed without public pressure on the ruling group.

We held another march to a rally at Derby Square, where speakers included Alexei Sayle.

MEETING FOR TRADE UNIONISTS – 15 NOVEMBER

Gaza – what can trade unionists do? was the title of a meeting at the Casa, discussing BDS and other forms of international solidarity.

UNIVERSITY VIGIL FOR GAZA – 15 NOVEMBER

Over 100 students and staff at Liverpool University held a daytime vigil in the University Square.

WALK AND RUN FOR GAZA – 11 NOVEMBER

The newly-formed Scousers for Palestine organised a walk and run for Gaza in Sefton Park

DEMONSTRATIONS FOR GAZA – 14, 15, 22 and 29 OCTOBER and 4 NOVEMBER

We held an open-air rallies and marches in support of the people of Gaza. The fist ended in front of the BBC and a short video (one of many) can be seen HERE. Later marches went from St Luke’s church steps or the Catholic Cathedral to Derby Square.

LABOUR CONFERENCE RALLY – 9 OCTOBER 

We held a rally outside the Labour Party conference in Liverpool,  highlighting Israeli apartheid – which the party leadership continues to deny – and the Israeli reprisal attacks on Gaza.

JEFF HALPER MEETING – 3 OCTOBER

We welcomed Jeff Halper, director of ICAHD, who addressed a public meeting and introduced the campaign for One Democratic State in Palestine.

VISITORS FROM SHU’FAT – 11 SEPTEMBER

Together with Unite Community we welcomed visitors from the Shu’fat refugee camp in East Jerusalem, who addressed a public meeting.

SWIM FOR GAZA – 26 AUGUST

Some of us took part in the worldwide ‘swim for Gaza’, showing solidarity with Gazans for whom the sea is the only outlet.

THE BIG RIDE – 3 TO 6 AUGUST

We had a rider in the Big Ride for Palestine, that cycled from Swansea to Bristol attracting large crowds along the way.

MILES FOR MAP – JULY

One of our supporters took on the challenge of walking 100km in July for the benefit of Medical Aid for Palestinians. In fact she did well over 500km!

LIVERPOOL PRIDE MARCH – 29 JULY

We took part in the Liverpool Pride march,  giving out THIS LEAFLET from PSC and making our position clear that there is no Pride in Israeli Apartheid.

GAZA FLOTILLA VISIT – 2 TO 5 JULY

We welcomed the Handala, a ship that is touring Northern Europe this year before attempting to break the Gaza blockade next year. We invited local politicians to meet the crew and held a well-supported public meeting where crew members spoke and answered questions. The public meeting was filmed by Skwawkbox and the film can be seen HERE

NAKBA 75 DEMONSTRATION – 13 MAY

We held a march through the city and a rally to mark 75 years since the Palestinian Nakba (see our Basic History page). Around 200 attended. Speakers included the poet Amina Atiq, city councillor Sam Gorst and Saif Kassis of the Palestinian organisation BADIL.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST – 9 TO 13 MAY

We demonstrated against Israel’s presence as a contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest, holding rallies before the first semi-final and the final.

BREAKFAST FOR PALESTINE – 23 APRIL

We held our annual fundraiser attended by about 100 people, raising money for St John’s Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and the Union of Palestinian Womens Committees.

PALESTINE AMBASSADOR VISIT – 23 FEBRUARY

We welcomed Dr Husam Zomlot, Head of the Palestine UK Mission, on a day visit to Liverpool. He visited the office of the RMT and the Lord Mayor, had a meeting with some leading councillors and addressed a packed public meeting at the Quaker Meeting House. His speech to the public meeting can be viewed HERE (36 minutes).

STRIKE DEMONSTRATION – 1 FEBRUARY

We attended and leafleted the strike demonstration in Liverpool, repaying the support that the trade unions give to the Palestinian cause.

2022

CAROLS FOR PALESTINE – DECEMBER

We held three hour-long sessions in central Liverpool singing carols that highlight present-day Palestine and collecting money for our solidarity work with the people of Bil’in.

PALESTINE FILM NITE – 29 SEPTEMBER

Our Palestine Film Nite featured two short films, one on the problems faced by Palestinian journalists and the other documenting ethnic cleansing on the West Bank. The films were introduced by their maker Musheir El-Farra. THIS was the flyer for the event.

LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE – 24 SEPTEMBER

We distributed a leaflet to conference-goers calling for action against Israeli apartheid

CRISIS IN HEBRON, CRISIS IN PALESTINE – 22 SEPTEMBER

We held a public meeting to welcome Muhammad Tamimi of the Hebron International Resource Network, who updated us on the latest Israeli ethnic cleansing in Masafer Yatta and the South Hebron hills.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – 20 AUGUST

We joined the Liverpool march led by the RMT union, a union that supports the Palestinians. We gave out a leaflet outlining recent developments in Gaza (see the ‘Our Leaflets’ page elsewhere on this site) 

GAZA PROTEST – 10 AUGUST

We held an emergency rally outside BBC Radio Merseyside to protest the latest Israeli attacks on Gaza.

LIVERPOOL PRIDE MARCH – 30 JULY

We took part in the annual Pride March, giving out our message that there is no pride in Israeli apartheid (see the ‘Our Leaflets’ page elsewhere on this site) 

ARAB ARTS FESTIVAL – JULY

We supported Liverpool’s Arab Arts Festival and had a stall at the concluding Family Day in the Sefton Park Palm House.

MEMORIAL FOR SHIREEN – 21 MAY

We joined the student organisers of @LivPalestine in a vigil to commemorate the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot by the Israeli army in Jenin on 11 May. The vigil was on the steps of St Luke’s church.

NATIONAL DEMONSTRATION – 14 MAY

We took part in the national demonstration in London organised by Palestine Solidarity Campaign. This march marked the 74th anniversary of the Nakba in Palestine (see the page on the Nakba elsewhere on this site).

MAY DAY MARCH – 1 MAY

We joined in and provided a speaker at the local labour movement May Day march.

PALESTINE LAND DAY – 30 MARCH

We leafleted outside Lime Street station to mark Palestine Land Day.

MEETING ON AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL REPORT – 22 MARCH

We hosted a zoom meeting to discuss the recently-published report from Amnesty International that confirms that Israel is an apartheid state. We heard from a representative of Amnesty International and from Dr Mona El-Farra who is director of the Middle East Childrens Alliance.

STUDENT DEMONSTRATION – 19 MARCH

We provided a speaker for a demonstration organised by Liverpool students to mark the start of Israeli Apartheid week.

2021

CAROLS FOR PALESTINE – DECEMBER

We held three hour-long sessions in central Liverpool singing carols that highlight present-day Palestine and collecting money for our solidarity work with the people of Bil’in.

CLIMATE ‘COP 26’ MARCH – 6 NOVEMBER

We formed a ‘Palestine bloc’ on the Liverpool Cop 26 march, distributing a leaflet that highlights the role of the Jewish National Fund in greenwashing Israeli apartheid.

ISSA AMRO – 5 NOVEMBER

The Hebron activist Issa Amro visited Liverpool and spoke at a public meeting in the Casa.

DAVID ROVICS CONCERT – 22 OCTOBER

We welcomed the American radical folk singer David Rovics who performed at the Irish Centre.

ARMS FAIR DEMO – 12 OCTOBER

We joined in organising a demonstration at the opening of the Electronic Arms Fair held on the Liverpool waterfront.

SHADOW WORLD – 14 JULY

As part of the Electronic Arms Fair campaign we organised a screening of Shadow World, a film about the international arms trade, followed by an online discussion with filmmaker Andrew Feinstein.

AGAINST THE ELECTRONIC ARMS FAIR – 27 JUNE

We joined in organising a rally and march against the Electronic Arms Fair that was scheduled for Liverpool in October.

GARDEN VIEWING – 20 JUNE

On Palestinian Nakba Day we joined with others to organise a march to protest the attacks on Gaza. Over 5,000 marched through the city to Derby Square.

STANDING WITH GAZA – 11 MAY

We held an emergency vigil in the city centre in response to the latest bombing of Gaza and the threat of a ground invasion.

MAY DAY – 1 MAY

We joined the traditional march through the city to commemorate May Day and contributed to the speeches from the platform.

HANEEN ZOABI SPEAKS – 7 MARCH

We hosted a speaker meeting featuring Palestinian activist Haneen Zoabi on zoom to mark International Womens Day.

2020

CAROLS FOR PALESTINE – DECEMBER

We held three open-air sessions in the city centre, collecting money to support our solidarity work with the people of Bil’in on the West Bank while replaying carols for Palestine recorded by the Liverpool Socialist Singers.

LOST AT SEA – 8 DECEMBER

We hosted an online screening of the film Lost at Sea, which documents the Israeli navy attack on the Mavi Marmara and the Gaza flotilla in 2010.

BREAKFAST FOR PALESTINE – 15 NOVEMBER

We held our annual fundraiser online and welcomed Liverpool poet Amina Atiq and Professor Ibrahim Fraihat to address us.

BIKE RIDE FOR PALESTINE – 26 JULY

We held a bike ride around Sefton and Princes Parks to highlight Israel’s threat to annex parts of the West Bank. Over 30 took to two wheels and there was a sizeable walkers group too.

AGAINST ANNEXATION – 4 JULY

We held a brief photoshoot to oppose current Israeli plans to annex large parts of the West Bank

AGAINST THE TRUMP PLAN – 1 FEBRUARY

Our monthly stall and leafleting highlighted our opposition to Trump’s plan for Palestine. We gave out THIS LEAFLET:

2019

REMEMBER BETHLEHEM – DECEMBER

We gave out leaflets outside the principal carol services highlighting the present-day oppression of Bethlehem.

CAROLS FOR PALESTINE – DECEMBER

We held three sessions in the city centre, putting different words to traditional carol tunes and collecting money to support our solidarity work with the people of Bil’in on the West Bank

BREAKFAST FOR PALESTINE – NOVEMBER

Our annual fundraiser attracted over 200 people and besides having great food from our members and supporters, we heard from a great speaker Hazem Jamjoum.

We held a public meeting to promote the campaign to deregister the Jewish National Fund UK as a British charity. THIS is the leaflet advertising the meeting.
